Lessons, materials and live classes

Everything a teacher has put in a lesson — notes and files to work through, homework, and classes you join online.

Lessons

Your teachers put everything for a lesson in one place — "Photosynthesis", "Fractions". A lesson can hold:

  • notes, files and useful links;
  • homework or a quiz;
  • notices from your teacher; and
  • live online classes.

Open My work → Learning resources and choose a subject. The count beside each subject is how many notes, files and links are waiting there.

Each lesson is a card: its number, what is inside, and how far you have got. A tick means you have finished everything in it. Search lessons finds one by its name or by anything inside it, so half-remembering a worksheet is enough to find the lesson holding it.

Open a lesson and it takes the whole page. Read the description and objectives first, then work down the materials; file sizes appear before you download. Search this lesson and the Notes / Files / Links buttons narrow what is in front of you. ‹ Lessons takes you back to the list.

Keeping track

Tick a reading item when you finish it. The lesson's reading progress always covers all its materials, even while you are filtering them — so the number does not jump about depending on what you have searched for. The card in the list keeps up with you: tick something here, go back, and it shows the new count.

Progress is saved to your account. If saving fails the tick goes back to how it was, and a message tells you to try again.

Homework and quizzes have their own status. Use Open assessment, View submission or View mark to open the work. Starting a quiz does not mark it submitted, and ticking a reading item does not hand in homework.

Live classes

When a teacher schedules one, the lesson shows the platform and the start time, and the card in the list says when it is ("Live class today, 10:30").

Once it is running, a red card appears at the top of your Home page with the subject, who is teaching and when it ends. Tap Join now — or Join class from the lesson itself — to open their secure Meet, Zoom or Teams link. Joining also tells your teacher you were there, so you do not need to tick it as well.

The button appears 15 minutes before the start and goes once the class ends — so a lesson scheduled for next week does not look like it is happening now, and one that finished last term is not still offering a way in. A cancelled class cannot be joined.

Recordings and permanent video links may still appear as ordinary materials.

If something is missing

A lesson you expected may not be published yet, or may belong to another class or subject. Ask your teacher to check that it is published and set for your class.
