Remarks and report cards
Write your remarks quickly with templates, and print cards for your class.
Sidebar → Report cards. You see the students in your scope — your classes, and your form class if you have one.
The full picture, including bulk printing and head remarks, is in Report cards. This covers the part that is yours.
Your remark is not the head's remark
A finished card carries two comments:
- The class teacher's remark — yours, if you are the form master
- The head teacher's remark — the head's, written separately
You write yours per student on this page. You are not expected to write the head's, and a card missing the head's remark is not something you can fix.
Writing remarks efficiently
Pick a student, type the remark, Save remarks.
Then use Next without remark. It jumps straight to the next student in the class still missing one, so you work down the class without hunting for who is left. It is much faster than Previous / Next.
Templates save the most time
You will write "has worked hard this term and should keep it up" many times. Save it once as a template and insert it.
A template can contain {first}, replaced with the student's first name when
you insert it — so one template produces "Kofi has worked hard…" and "Ama has
worked hard…".
Each template is up to 500 characters, and you can keep 30. They are private to you — no other teacher sees or can edit yours.
Insert, then edit. A template is a starting sentence, not the whole remark; a parent can tell when thirty children received an identical comment.
Printing
Preview style switches between Modern and Classic layouts. It changes the printout, not the marks.
The print button tells you whether the card is ready:
- Ready to print — marks complete and the class teacher's remark written
- Complete report first — something is missing
Print anyway if you need to; you get a warning saying exactly what is missing and a button to continue. Cards are laid out for A4, and your browser's "Save as PDF" gives you a file to email.
What parents see, and when
Nothing you do here shows a card to a parent. Report cards reach the parent and student portals only when the school publishes the term — an administrator or head does that, after marks are locked.
So a parent asking why they cannot see a report is asking about publishing, not about your remarks. See Ending the term.
If a card looks wrong
- A subject is blank — marks are not finished for it. If it is your subject, it is yours to finish; if not, the Exams Officer can see who owes what.
- A subject is missing entirely — it is not offered to that class, which is a setup question for your administrator.
- Attendance looks wrong — it comes from the daily registers. If you are the form master, that is yours to correct in Attendance.
- You cannot edit marks any more — the term has been locked ahead of reports.
